We wanted someplace better.
We got tired of hookup apps that stopped being fun. Ads just to scroll. Bots in the inbox. Our data quietly sold off in the background. Conversations that died before they started, and Friday nights spent on a couch watching ads instead of being with someone. We couldn't find anything better, so we started building Thumpr.
Who we are
There's no big origin story here. A few of us were complaining about the same things: the ads, the bots, the feeling that every app was becoming unusable without paying $20 a month. At some point complaining turned into building.
We're a small team. We use Thumpr ourselves. When something feels off, we fix it ourselves. We want a place that makes finding fun, fun again. That's why we're building Thumpr.
What Thumpr is
Right now, Thumpr is a better version of what's already out there. No ads. No paywall to make it usable, no quietly selling your data to whoever's buying. Just a place to find people who are actually around.
That's where we're starting. Where we're going is bigger, a place for the gay community to connect, not just date. Same values, more room. Built around the people in it instead of selling more ads.
